Two shoots to a booked
wedding season

What 164 proven ads and 78 competitors say, the funnel we run first, and what it costs to find out.

Where Dev is

New to weddings.
Not new to a camera.

Videographer and producer out of NYC and Boston, 4,468 followers, 92 posts, building Render Creative Studio. The craft is there. What is not there yet is wedding specific proof, and that is a different problem with a different fix.
01
The gap is proof, not skill
78 wedding videographers are listed on The Knot for New York and all of them have wedding footage. Two weddings is not a reel yet, so no plan should make the wedding portfolio the deciding factor for the next six months.
02
The audience is already there
4,468 followers is a retargeting pool and an organic channel that almost no new wedding vendor has on day one. Cheapest impressions you will ever buy.
03
What round one buys
Five weddings in the bag. That changes every ad you can run afterwards, and it is the only thing standing between the work you already make and the work couples will pay for.
01
The market

50,000 weddings a year.
You need 25.

Dev shoots 25 weddings a year at most. That is 0.1% of the bookings. You do not have to win this market, you have to be findable in it.

Competitor research

78 in the directory.
2 running real ads.

We pulled every wedding photo and video ad still running past 30 days in the US. 164 ads, 94 advertisers, 18 of them in New York. Days live is the cheapest proxy there is for an ad that pays.

The two highlighted rows are the same mechanic. A specific free thing, with a dollar value on it, tied to booking by a deadline. It shows up across unrelated advertisers in different cities and it is the only thing in the sweep that is clearly a system rather than nice footage.

The ads that keep running

Click any of these to watch it.

Six of the 164. Every one opens in the Meta Ad Library so you can see the creative. Full swipe file of all 164 is in the doc.
05
The mechanic underneath

Four parts.
Nothing clever.

01
A location question
Getting married in NYC? One line, and it qualifies and disqualifies instantly.
02
A named free thing
With a number attached. An $800 ceremony edit. Two gifts worth $1,000. Not a vague discount.
03
A deadline
Book by the end of the month. The thing that turns interest into a reply.
04
One next step
DM a keyword, or one form. Never a gallery to browse first.
The free thing is contingent on booking, never on entering. That is what separates the ads that run 884 days from the giveaway ads that collect freebie hunters.
06
The funnel question

Seven ways in.
We run one.

  • Instant form runningNative Meta form, no website needed, cheapest leads, and you keep the email and phone.
  • DM to Instagram round twoThe proven mechanic here, 884 days on the longest run. A thread is not a list though.
  • Pricing guide download folded inOnly lead magnet in the whole swipe file. We use it as the form's offer, not a separate funnel.
  • Website inquiry form round threeNeeds a site and a portfolio to scroll. Neither exists yet.
  • WhatsApp click to chat not nowSame shape as DM with worse tracking and no list.
  • Calendar booking not nowToo big an ask from a cold couple on an optional purchase.
  • Landing page with a VSL not nowThe VSL needs a finished film in it. Revisit after five weddings.
07
The one we run first

Instant form.
And only instant form.

01
You cannot read a three way split
The whole test produces 3 to 10 bookings. Split three ways that is 1 to 3 each. Nobody can call a winner on 2 against 3, so you would spend the budget and still be guessing.
02
Angles read, funnels do not
Cost per lead has 120 to 200 data points behind it. Bookings have 10 at best. Test the thing you can actually measure in 30 days.
03
Delivery gets worse too
Meta wants about 50 events a week per ad set to optimise properly. One ad set at $100 a day gets near that. Three at $33 do not, so every one of them delivers badly as well as reading badly.
The purchase lands 8 to 18 months out, so owning the contact beats owning the conversation. We keep the proven DM offer mechanic, the named gift and the deadline, and change only where the lead lands. DM becomes round two, tested against a benchmark instead of against a guess.

3-10
Across both rungs. The $500 day is an easy yes, the film is harder.
Three to ten bookings, weighted to content days with a few films behind them, is $3,750 to $13,500 against $3,000 of spend. The invoices are not the point. Five finished films, a list of 150 engaged couples with dates on them, and a cost per lead nobody in this niche publishes are worth more than the first month of revenue.
09
The offer behind it

Two rungs.
One pays this month.

Number one requested niche vendor. Vertical, same day, posted next morning.
Rung two, the film

You already know what everyone looked like. You will not remember what your dad sounded like.

1/18
One gates a pricing guide. The only lead magnet in the set.
Every one of these is a gallery with a contact form on it. We build the opposite: the argument first, one price anchor, the pricing guide as the capture, and a booked call as the next step rather than a form nobody answers.

You hold the camera.
We build the rest.
