that brings in 3 to 10 clients a month

We pulled every wedding ad in the US still running after 30 days, 164 of them, and built this off what is actually working.

Competitor research

78 videographers listed in NYC.
Two are advertising properly.

We pulled every wedding photo and video ad still running past 30 days in the US. 164 ads, 94 advertisers, 18 of them in New York. Days live is the cheapest proxy there is for an ad that pays.

The two highlighted rows are really the same thing: offer something specific for free, put a price on it, and only give it to people who book by a date. Different videographers in different cities have landed on this independently, which is usually a sign it works.

Six of the 164. Every one opens in the Meta Ad Library so you can see the creative. Full swipe file of all 164 is in the doc.
04
The mechanic underneath

The four parts
every one of them uses.

01
A location question
Getting married in NYC? One line, and it qualifies and disqualifies instantly.
02
A named free thing
With a number attached. An $800 ceremony edit. Two gifts worth $1,000. Not a vague discount.
03
A deadline
Book by the end of the month. The thing that turns interest into a reply.
04
One next step
DM a keyword, or one form. Never a gallery to browse first.
They only give it away if you book. The ones that give it away for entering a competition collect people who wanted something free, not a videographer.
05

06
The funnel question

Seven ways in.
We run one.

  • Instant form round twoBest median survival in the data, but on 7 advertisers. Too thin a sample to put the first $3,000 behind.
  • DM to Instagram running92% of these ads survive past 90 days, the best in the set, and both heavy spenders in NY run it.
  • Pricing guide download folded inOnly lead magnet in the whole swipe file. We use it as the form's offer, not a separate funnel.
  • Website or contact form worst in the dataThe market default and the most fragile. Median 70 days, 46% survive past 90.
  • WhatsApp click to chat not nowSame shape as DM with worse tracking and no list.
  • Calendar booking not nowToo big an ask from a cold couple on an optional purchase.
  • Landing page with a VSL not nowThe VSL needs a finished film in it. Revisit after five weddings.
07
The one we run first

DM first.
Because the data says so.

The most common funnel is one of the weakest. 46 advertisers send paid traffic to a website and only 64% of those ads last three months. The contact form is worse again. DM has the best survival in the set on the only sample big enough to trust, and the two advertisers actually spending in New York, 30 variants and 14 variants, both run it. We capture the email and phone inside the conversation so we still own the list for an 8 to 18 month buying window.

Across both rungs. The $500 day is an easy yes, the film is harder.
Most of those will be the cheaper content days with a couple of full films behind them, so roughly $3,750 to $13,500 on $3,000 of spend. The money is not really the point in month one. What matters is Dev ending it with five finished films to show, a list of 150 engaged couples with dates, and a real cost per lead, which nobody in this market publishes anywhere.
09
What we film

Five ad formats. We test all five in month one.

B-ROLLFootage from a real weddingThe format everyone wins with.Dev already shoots this. Costsnothing extra.TALKING HEADDev to cameraNobody in the 164 does this well.Builds the trust the reel cannot.CAROUSELStills that swipeCheap to make from photos he has.Good for the objection angles.STATIC IMAGEOne frame, text on itThe control to beat. All of it comes out of one filming day. Dev shoots the b-roll on wedding days anyway, reads the scripts to camera for the talking heads, and the carousels and stills are cut from footage he already has.
10
The offer behind it

Two things to sell.
One of them is easy to say yes to.

Rung one, content day
$500-999
Number one requested niche vendor. Vertical, same day, posted next morning.
Rung two, the film
$2-2.5k
Under the $2,450 to $4,499 the market charges. Raise after ten weddings.
The gift, valued at
$800
Speeches and vows cut as a separate audio piece. Costs an afternoon, proves the whole argument.
You already know what everyone looked like. You will not remember what your dad sounded like.

The website we build

18 sites with ad budget behind them. Click to open.

1/18
One gates a pricing guide. The only lead magnet in the set.
Every one of these is a gallery with a contact form on it. We build the opposite: the argument first, one price anchor, the pricing guide as the capture, and a booked call as the next step rather than a form nobody answers.

What happens next

What happens in
the first four weeks.

01
Week one
Name the mechanism, write the offer, script nine ads. You film them.
02
Week two
Instant form, qualifying questions, CRM and tracking built. Campaign goes live.
03
Week three
First read on cost per lead. Kill the losing angles, push budget behind what replies.
04
Week four
Calls and bookings. Decide whether round two is more spend or the DM test.
